Happy International Literacy Day

A Mighty Girl
Happy International Literacy Day! Today is the 50th anniversary of this global celebration of literacy as the foundation of all learning!
To mark this special day, we're sharing our collection of favorite Mighty Girl books about reading and literacy. These books celebrate the love of reading, the value that books bring to our lives, and the incredible joy and pride that comes with learning this critical skill. Along with numerous recommendations for children and teens, we've also highlighted a number of books for parents offering tips and strategies to help foster your children's love of reading and information on how to support those children that might be struggling.
To read our blog post on "Celebrating a Love of Reading: Mighty Girl Stories about Books, Libraries, and Literacy," visit http://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11656
To help children and teens better understand the challenges many children around the world face in order to go to school, we've also put together a blog post featuring our favorite books for young readers on children's educational access issues: "Honoring Malala: Mighty Girl Books on Children's Fight for Education" at http://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11621
In the US, you can get involved in supporting literacy efforts in your community by finding local programs at http://www.nationalliteracydirectory.org/
One excellent organization that helps promote literacy around the world is Room to Read. This amazing non-profit organization has reached millions of children worldwide by building school libraries and supporting girls' education in numerous developing countries in Asia and Africa.
