‪#‎DYK‬ Women could not compete in the Olympics until 1900--and golfer Margaret Abbott was the first American woman to win an event. Abbott shot a 47 in the 9 hole tournament and took first out of the eleven female competitors. She was one of 22 women who participated in competition at the Paris 1900 Games. In the 2016 games, there are 292 women competing from the United States.
